Fox TV Studios UK is to close following a major restructuring of the company.
Fox staff were reportedly told to stop pitching programme ideas a few weeks ago. The company said: "The move comes as part of the studio's overall examination of its international strategy and operations. Fox TV Studios will continue to develop and produce high-quality scripted and alternative programming for the US and international marketplaces through production and co-production with broadcasters around the world." The division has existed since the 2004 acquisition of Scream Films, which was re-branded as Fox TV Studios UK in 2006. It focused mostly on producing unscripted shows, including Channel 4's Unanimous. The move comes after Emiliano Calemzuk, who joined at the end of April as Fox Television Studios president, warned staff of a possible 'shake-up.' In a statement to staff at the time he said: "I will be leading the marketing, unscripted and international groups for the time being, assisted by the teams already in place, until a final structure (which may or may not resemble the current one) is created."
