Default TM add on card reader

I have been thinking about getting one of the add on card readers for my TM1000D. I have seen it mentioned on sites advertising them that it "read any card" Is this right? If this is the case would it be possible to program a card to watch say digitalb or would it only work with genuine cards?

Not sure jonty but I would imagine it would work in the same way as the 1500 multicrypt card reader does. It opens DigitAlb/Art etc when you load one of the patches. Not sure what it opens without the patch mind :?

art worked on my tm1500 before any patches were on it so it must be multi crypt reader

does the 1000d have a cam slot on it ?

From what I can make out you need to take out the blanking plate in the front of the TM and the reader connects to the motherboard adding a card reader. Its not a cam just a card slot.

Here is the info I have.

Card Reader Technomate

Give your Technomate satellite reciever multi card capabilities with this new add on unit fom Technomate.

Shows in the on screen menu as embedded Conax, but also reads Irdeto, Viaccess, and most other official viewing cards.

Fitting of this unit requires you to remove the case of your receiver (5 screws), place the unit into the receiver (using the 2 screws supplied), plug the supplied lead into the main board inside the receiver and replace the outer case. Can be fitted in less than 5 minutes

Compatible with models:

TM-1000 D Super
TM-1000 CI Super
TM-1600 2CI Super

I stuck one in my Techno 1600 2 CI.
Was relatively easy to fit and put my ART card in, no probs.
It took literally 5 mins and was recognised by the box straight away.
I think it cost me £30 IIRC.
