Hi betty_lo,

As BGonaStick says, you really need a pc using 'Windows' operating system - and a null modem cable to connect pc to receiver.

Regards,

Yorks.

Yes, you can get several free French TV channels from 5W on that receiver. Alternatively you could have a friend patch it and punch in any new codes via the remote control. No use for TPS though, as they change the keys too often.

A motorised dish would give you access to FTA French TV on a number of different satellites.

unfortunately, i do not know anyone who could patch the receiver for me. but i might just buy a patched one from ebay. however, to be sure on what i should do next without any unnecessary expense, i just want to clarify the following:

- if i point my dish to atlantic bird 3 at 5w, using my technomate receiver, i will be able to get some french channels (such as tf1, france 2, 3, etc); so am i right in saying that my receiver does not need to be patched to get these channels?

- if i manage to get hold of a patched receiver, how would i get hold of the new codes to use with the remote control?

thanks

Not TF1 or M6, but just about everything else, yes.

Have a look here:

http://www.lyngsat.com/ab3.html

Everything in pale yellow you can get without a patch.

There is also free French TV on Hotbird and several other satellites.

There is not much point buying a patched box if you can't keep the patches up to date yourself. After a few months the patch will become outdated - if not sooner.
