Just installed Skystar2 and 80cm Dish today. I am using 4.1.1.2 drivers from Technisat website as using Vista. I have an AMD 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3600+ 2.01GHZ with an NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GS graphics card.
I am getting No Valid DVB device Found message. I have set the software for Astra 19.2. The dish is not yet aligned is it because of it not being aligned I am getting this message or do I have other issues. I have the pci card under network controllers in device manger and all seem ok there. I have downloaded a program Fastsatfinder to aid aliening dish but it is time limited and don't want to waste the time left if I have other issues. Is there a similar program as freeware? |

I will try swapping pci slots when I get home. I have been in properties and I thought I had the latest driver version no. in first post,as that was the vista beta download from the website. I did have a play earlier before I left for work and the transponder list are there and selected sky news on astra 19.2 the screen stays black which leads me to think it may be dish alignment. |

Well this is most strange, have put the card in the other pci slot and also reinstalled the driver. I notice the driver version has changed 4.4.1.5. It has also moved out of network controllers and is now under Video and game controllers.
In DVB viewer under hard ware it has changed from skystar2 to Technisat BDA Digital Tuner If I now try to run Fastsatfinder it says it cant start the Skystart2 device, this has only happened since I updated the driver. I am now able to carry out a scan of Astra 2 and it picks the transponders, but no picture if I select a known sky channel i get a blank screen. However if I open up the audio folder I get a picture of a violin (i guess this is generated by DVB viewer along with some poor quail sound. It was a this point I moved the dish slightly for a better signal thinking if I get better sound I may then get some video. Well no such luck lost sound completely. When you are scanning for channels there are 3 red boxes PAT PMT SDT when a channel PAT and PMT go green, Am I right in thinking that SDT should go green and they did I would get video? Anyone know of a program similar to Fastsatfinder that gives an audible output indicate signal strength? |

Hi tjxkeith
As regards signal. If you have a sat receiver you can connect skystar to lnb out connection on receiver. Then find you sat with good signal. Then put receiver in standby. Then the skystar will get the correct signal. ALBERT

Hi
when you open dvb viewer go to channels.in root select 19 east or which sat your on.Then reception select satelite. Then go to transponer list.select astra 19.then click scan range. If you have already done this and still no results then it is on wrong sat.So test 28 or 13 east in same way. ALBERT

Welcome to the forum tjxkeith.
Try the BBC World channel to make sure you have things working. I have found all of the sky channels difficult to set up a card. Whilst it may say a channel is free to air they sometimes dont work. The Vista driver is the BDA driver for the SS2. I had terrible trouble with the SS2 and Vista. When you run any sat viewing software, make sure you select the correct card from the viewer properties. Vista always thinks it knows best and picks the wrong one. I think the best viewing prog is Altdvb but you have to click the right button on the icon and select 'run as administrator' when using Vista.
