Default TM-9100 - What's required in order to get up and running?.

Hi,

Re: TM-9100 What's required in order to get up and running?.

Am interested in buying one of these but am not sure what exactly needs to be bought in order to get up and running so to speak. Am a complete newbie to the field of Satellite TV but like the idea of this PVR box running on Linux.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Guess that all of the channels are FTA or otherwise of minimal cost?.

Thank you.

Wow.

Dunno where to start really?

I know you said you are a complete newbie, but I'm not sure how much of a newbie you are - do you have a dish yet?

Welcome to the forum newbie2linux.

You will need a sat dish, cable, the receiver, a pc, and preferably a router to connect your local area network to the internet.

The last item is not essential but to get the best out of a linux box, you need the direct connection to certain websites.

After you have that lot, you need time to do a bit of learning. Its not difficult but practice makes perfect. It is a great hobby and you get out what you put into it.

if you mean on the receiver you will need to update the image that is installed to a later image and then install a hard disc if you want to use the pvr functions and then install cam emulators/keys to open channels that are currently available

i have the tm9100 and have installed juliet 006 image and gbox 225, evocamd and mgcamd 1.23 cam emulators
