hello
Looking to purchase some satellite equipment in the not to distant future. Hoping to receive the Free to Air slovenian national channels, but i also wouldnt mind getting the footy 3pm kick offs. I understand that ART have lost the rights and Showtime would require a really big dish to receive so someone tells me Digialba or something would be my next option. I pretty sure the slovenian stuff is on hotbird 8 but no idea where the other things are. I'm guessing it would be better to pay a bit more for a motorised setup? I'm in North East England near Newcastle if that helps, would be greatful for advise on dish sizes and so on. |

i think a 90cm dish should be ok to pick up 16 east. thats the sat for digitalb probably the best deal.
showtime ,you will need a big dish which will take you over the threshold of the law. i think the maximum on a property is a 1metre dish. depends where you are in country, i was advised of a 1.8 dish in norwich probably reaching over 2 metres where you are for showtime. premiere on 19.2 east could be another option but expensive there claiming there show over 300 prem games, but the price per card around 400.00 mark for season, an 80-90cm dish should do astra comfortably.. digitalb the best deal, with the supersport channels, should get there cards for 150.00 .. |

I think it's worth going to 1m that far north. You could use a 3 degree monobloc for 13E and 16E if you didn't want to go for a motor.

For people interested in football but who do not (yet) want to go motorised, I think the best option currently is three Alps (narrow) LNBs for 13e, 16e & 19e; more flexibility than the monoblocks.

Yeah, 1M should be plenty for 16E. It is for me and I'm probably as far North as you but further West.
It's also the max you're allowed without planning permission. If it's gonna be wall mounted you don't want to be going much bigger (maybe 1.2M max), not unless you like you're wall anyway ![]() Kev

Sounds good. Avoid the cheap and cheerful motors. Moteck and STAB are the most respected of the DiSEqC type.

Just a couple of things:
1) Check what type of wall mount it is - being part of a bundle it will probably be one of the cheap mounts which have a tendency to buckle during the winter storms. Stick with T&K's if possible ![]() 2) Ask if the receiver is the 'super' version. This has a fast blind scan in case you want to look for any feeds. Non super versions take a lifetime to scan one of the main Sat's ![]() 3) Did I say a couple You want CT100 cable or equivalent, not some cheap alternative that saps you're signal on it's way to the receiver, especially when you're investing in a 1M dish to boost reception in the first place ![]() Kev
