Hi all,
Great to find a forum where I can get help, so a big thank you in advance. Here's what I've got: Comag SL 35 receiver. It's connected to the Astra 28 East satellite, it's all been connected fine as my dad did that bit for me. So here's my questions, possibly a bit basic so I apologise. 1) Why can't I get Channel4/E4/Channel 5? 2) How do I get ITV2 as opposed to ITV2+1? 3) I can only get a few channels, for example every BBC and ITV region going, but not much else, is there any way to add a few more manually? (A few more decent ones that is, not BBC parliament!!!!!) Thank you in advance, and another apology for such basic questions. I hope I've given enough information. Suzie x |

Just a quick answer to some of your questions; others will probably come along to give more details. 1. You can't get Channels 4 & 5 because a card from Sky (whether current subscription, ex-subscription or one called "freesat") is required; on top of that you need the type of receiver that can 'accept' the card e.g. Sky digibox and one or two other types of receiver. 2. To get ITV+1 etc, you probably need to update the channels/frequency list on your receiver; this will require you to enter the correct information (frequency, symbol rate and sometimes FEC) into your receiver. You can get this information at http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html . Your receiver manual should have a guide on how to enter the information otherwise press the Menu on your receiver and see if you can take it from there; if not, come back here and someone might be able to help. 3. Same as 2. All the best and welcome again. Edit PS In addition to answer 1: you will probably be able to watch Channel 4/E4 on your current receiver next year; though not likely channel 5 yet

Thank you for your very welcoming message!
![]() I'm a bit disappointed about E4, but luckily can get Channel 4 elsewhere anyway. I'm trying to tune in ITV2 as you suggested, but the instruction manual doesn't really help. (On top of that, it's in poorly written English anyway!). I get the following options: TP INDEX e.g. 6/35, this changes the TP Frequency, Symbol Rate and Polarity. Video PID Audio PID PCR PID Which info do I put in which box? Sorry to sound a bit silly, and thanks for your help, Suzie |

I trust that some of the guys with a Comag will soon be along and can help with specifics.
In general you shouldn't need to bother with Video Id, Audio Id & PCR Id. For the others i.e. frequency, symbol rate and fec; each should be on a line of it own; use the up/down arrows on your remote to highlight the line you want to enter info into, then press OK; that should allow you to change the values for that particular item; then you move to the other two (symbol rate and fec) and enter the corresponding information similarly. Give it a go and let's hear how you get on.

I'll move this into the Comag section and hopefully someone can tell you exactly how to do it on the SL35

Hello Hesperus,
![]() I have a similar receiver (SL65). Although it is not identical, it should have a similar menu. If I tell you what to look for, (bearing in mind that your options may not be exactly the same), you should be able to add more channels. If you press the 'Menu' button on your remote you should have several options available. You need to look for 'Installation'. In the sub menu, look for 'Antenna Setup'. If you select this you should be presented with a list of satellites which have been preprogrammed into your receiver. Select 'Astra 28.2E'. Press 'Exit', and look for 'Auto Scan' or 'Blind Search' option. Select this and make sure that 'Astra 28.2E' is selected. On Scan Mode select Free (or you will load all the encrypted channels - which you can't watch). On Scan Channel select the type of channels you wish to 'tune'. TV + Radio if you want both. Now select 'Search' The receiver should then scan and load all the up to date channels available. You can then sort them into some kind of logical order - or flag them up as favourites. Hope this helps. If you have any more questions - ask away. Regards, Yorks ![]() |
