Default New 7020 owner :)

Just had a quick go on it, network set up, Sky feed going in and scanned all channels ok, TV set up ok. (dish being installed tomorrow night)

Anything I need to do before I get into flashing

Should I flash the main box or just run off USB??

Just looked into updating the satellites.xml file, I can see the dreambox on my network as a PC and get into the folder, can I just dump the new file in there of do I have to do it via FTP??

Before you go too mad - have a look at Flashwizard Pro 6.3 (in our Dreambox utils section somewhere.)

Plug in your USB stick and then fire up the software. Now that's easy

Well done blicky. As Stick says dont go mad.

It is important that the flash image, in your case now Gemini 3.6, is kept as clean as possible without too much in the way of satellites and addons.

Once you get the usb stick plugged in, put any image you like on the usb stick as a multiboot image and then add all the bells and whistles to that image. Get that image working just the way you want it with sats and configurations. Then if you add a new image to the usb stick using FlashWizard 6.3, it will copy your settings to the new image.

If you play about with the flash image rather than the usb images, you are likely to make the DB go tits up and have to start from scratch again. Play with the usb images and all you need to do, if you foul up, is to reboot to another of your usb images and then delete the image that you have bu**ered up.

another 7020 ower on the site

As the other say get either a compact flash card or a usb memory stick. When it all goes wrong (and it will at some point - Ive had occasional problems with wonky images) you can unplug the stick and boot back to the base image

I drop most of my images onto a 512 mb compact flash card and play with them off there. (CF cards wont work if you have a hard drive fitted)

Thanks again guys

I have a USB stick and CF cards (no HDD for now) so will try and have a play tonight once the dish is up

Still can't get over how easy it was to flash a new image & update satellite.xml

I can feel a sleepless weekend comming on!

Once you have flashwizard pro up and running you need to format the cf or the memory stick BEFORE you try and do anything with it. It wont do any harm if you dont - butv it wont work!

Hi Guys,

Well i'm up and running

Well just after a frantic couple of hours working out how to put the transponders in last night!! (loaded from the blue button menu ops

Seem to be getting all sats as per the list. Looking into cams at the mo and seemed to have worked out how to get SKY with my card and also worked out INXTC

Do you guys know what all of the symbols mean in the bottom left hand corner of the OSD (Gemini 3.6) I guess it's something to do with what type of encryption a channel has as it seems to change between them, what cam/keys do what though?? and what do you find the bst cam to be??

Still playing with the rest of it all atm so I still have my 'L' plate on :roflmao:

I'm using mgcamd at the moment. It's opening TPS, Premiere and Digital+ OK.

There is a great little script you can install to download a fresh key bundle without any messing about too.

The symbols are the encryption type. I=Irdeto, N=Nagravision, S=Seca etc. etc. Some channels are transmitted in more than one type.

Your Sky card will work using Newcamd without making any mods. Just select it via the blue button and restart the CAM, then insert your card.
