a few weeks back i got a 90cm channel master dish with matching feedhorn and az-el mount off ebay for very cheap
i'm wanting to try it out and replace my triax dish with it but is the only option a 1224 motor or channel master polar mount + actuator motor looking at the 1224 motor it seems abit over the top for the dish i have as it weights quite abit and you cant seem to get the polar mount anywhere, have seen it on the sat superstore site @ 120 pound which is quite much as a 1224 from germany is 85 plus shipping i'll be wanting to mount it on the t&k brackets i have up and mod them for 3 inch pole anyone recommend what to do ? wod

Based on the price of the 1224 you've seen I'd go for that. Sat superstore price is stupid. Having a polar mount custom made is going to be expensive, but you could always make one yourself or modify one from a different manufacturer.
I wouldn't worry about the 1224 being overkill. You could fit it and forget it, as it's built to last forever. It has to mount on the top of the pole though. Think in terms of the overall price. If you saved loads of cash on the dish, then splashing out on the motor isn't so bad, and you'd end up with a very tasty setup.

yeah just thinking of the weight though as the dish doesn't seem to heavy and with it mounting on top of the pole it will be nearly above the roof line
as if it works out very good i may look around for a slightly larger version ![]() prices are stupid though 1224 in uk 170ish in germany a 1224, adapter plate, vbox is 115 ish shipped to uk

Think I'd definitely go with Sticks suggestion here
The 1224 looks and feels vastly superior to my 36v motor.I've got the 128 H2H on my CM, also from Sat Superstore. It all came as a package so I'm not sure if it's a specific mounting plate just for that motor or not :? In fact, I'm not even sure if the 128 is available anymore :? I'll take a pic of the mounting plate later, just to give you an idea of what it's like. The 128 is just a variation of the 99G motor. Can't do it now as I'm off to the gym, if I don't go now I'll end up sitting on my backside all day ![]() Although the 1224 also fits a 2" pole, I don't think I'd be to happy putting it on one as it is a bloody heavy motor, so it's probably well worth the extra hassle of modding you're T&K's for a 3" pole I will (eventually : ) get round to fitting my 1224Kev

Can't you just move your top bracket underneath the bottom bracket to keep it all lower?

not really as the way the dish faces for east satellites my neighbour has trees so it has to be high up for the dish to clear the trees
i'm surprised really my current dish works as i got no problem viewing satellites from 30east to 30 west (except 4w, 7w etc cause of dish size) as when looking at where the dish points it looks at the trees but with the offset angle the signal must come over the top it should be ok on 2 k brackets using 7cm sleeve anchors bolts with a t in the middle

OK, but can't you shift the pole up so the motor sits just on top of what is currently the bottom bracket, or is that still not high enough? The motor itself is quite tall.
Just trying to save you drilling some holes ![]() I've had to fill in a few left over from a failed installation by a Sky installer : and found some excellent specialist brick-coloured filler that goes off rock hard and blends in really well, especially when mixed with a little brick dust.

This is the adaptor plate on mine, although I strongly suspect that it only fits this particular motor

also could probably mount it just below the guttering on 24 inch t&k brackets as that would give lot more stand off over what there is now 16inches to allow it to be further down what i'd really like to do though is mount it above the guttering as then there would be no issues but worried about doing that also where can i get that filler you mention ?
