And what's that LNB/exhaust pipe all about?

Waveguide mate.

The actual LNB sits at the end of it.
Can't see the feedhorn though, and by the looks of the waveguide and the holes around the outside it used to be a cassegrain feed type of some sort, in which case there are loads of bits missing.

Notice how you are not able to see the centre of the dish in the piccy where the hole should be ??
