I have Skystar2 and a Technomate 9100 box with a Motek 2100 motor.
Had it all set up yesterday and the Technomate controls the motor. Does anyone know of a make Diseqc switch that would allow me to have either Skystar2 or Technomate to control the motor as a lot of switches would not all the commands to pass through the switch to the motor I was told. |

I had a similar dilemma which I 'solved' with a co-ax A-B switch from Maplins for <£10. This allowed each receiver to be hard-wired to the motor dependent on the switch setting.
The problem with this is that moving the motor with the Skystar causes the TM1500 to loose its positions unless I remembered to reset it to the same sat (for instance always ending up with both receivers on 19E). I now have the Skystar looped through the TM which can be switched off when using the Skystar's positioner - again remembering to always return to the same starting point unless you fancy resetting all the positions again. Although not so convenient, I prefer to use the TM to position the dish and then use the Skystar as it does avoid the above problem. Food for thought (or maybe confusing ramblings!) JK

I think the problem with this is that the Techy and the SS2 forget where the motor is if control is taken by the other system.
I control my dish from my pc by using Dreamview to get my dreambox to move to the satellite I want and then use the SS2 software to watch that sat. I dont know if Dreamview works with the Techy but I imagine it must.

Came to the conclusion that Dreamview was not going to work with my TM1500 (although it may well do with tjxkeith's 9100 as it is linux based(?). jimdefruit's conclusion is pretty much mine - use the main receiver as a positioner when moving the dish for Skystar use - keep it simple!

Being odd, I do mine round the other way.
I have a twin LNB - one output to the Dreambox and one via the motor to the SS2. My computer's always on and the SS2 motor plugin allows me to send any command I like to the motor - even raw commands - which is very useful for playing about if you know what you're doing.
