Digital terrestrial pay-TV operator Top Up TV has launched 'Showcase', a free-to-view service allowing content owners to reach Freeview homes using Top Up's TV+ digital television recorder and TV Anytime service.
Showcase has been designed to give content owners a cost effective way to access Freeview homes, 'pushing' content to digital television recorders instead of content owners having to launch channels. National Lottery operator Camelot and The Audi Channel have already signed up to the service, which will be available from July 17. "Today companies spend millions sponsoring and creating great content that is often only seen by a limited number of people. Showcase now enables them to set free that content, getting it into people's living rooms and reaching out to a much wider audience," said Top Up TV chairman David Chance. "Most companies cannot afford to have a dedicated video stream on Freeview. Showcase enables them to get their content onto Freeview in a cost effective way, without relying on the viewer being tuned in at the moment it happens to be broadcast."
