Default Connecting sky and terrestrial on one cable

Hi, i have just installed an rf cable from my downstairs tv/skybox to a tv upstairs, can someone tell me if it is possible to be able to connect both the rf from the skybox rf2 socket and the terrestrial aerial rf cable onto the cable going upstairs as when i do do it now the signal for all the channels (sky,5 x terrestrial) isnt as good as when i connect them seperately?

There should be 3 'RF' ports on the back of your Sky box.

One in, and two out. You plug your terrestrial one into one, and plug the cable going upstairs into an output one.

Upstairs then you should get your five channels/freeview & your current sky channel

Yep. If the quality sucks, you may need to alter the RF channel output on the digibox by taking the remote and pressing:

Services
4
0
1
Select

Without pausing. This is the installer menu. Don't change what you don't understand.

The other thing of course, is that with a long run of cable upstairs, you may need to introduce a good quality signal booster close to the output of the Sky box.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on!

I can confirm that.

All the TV's in our house are fed from the RF2 output from the Sky box. They all receive the normal 5 channels and freeview. You have to use the RF2 output if you want to use a magic eye to change Sky channels from another room. You may need to enable this from the menu stick mentioned. If you use a booster make sure it has a return or by pass or the magic eye will not work.

Thanks for that, have connected it to the skybox and yes the quality (especially on the sky channel) isn't as good, as it was a perfect picture before!!
I guess i need to try a booster on it now?? The rf2 on the skybox menu is set to 'on' to use the magic eye! is there any other setting that may improve it??

Only the RF Channel Number above the RF Outlet Power Supply setting.

You need to get the former away from the channel numbers used by the analogue terrestrial services on your local TV transmitter.

Booster and cable quality are the only other things I think you can do to improve the situation. Possibly a small attenuator in the main TV aerial cable might help I suppose. Depends how strong your terrestrial signal is.

Quality of picture from the RF output will never be as good as from the scart socket, Roughly how long it the c@ble and what sort is it? Also if you give us your post code we can see what frequency's are used in your area.

Put the RF Channel number as high as possible. According to my spidey sense, this should improve the picture.

All depends what is transmitting in the area. No good having it set to say 68 if there is a TV channel or a freeview MUX transmitting on 65-68 because they will interfere with each other. Also my old Pace sky box worked fine for years on channel 68 but the new Thomson Sky + wouldn't for some reason. I had to change the setting to 30 :? So it could also depend on the box.
