Default Vista/Dragon!

Hello there, I seem to being having difficulties with my interface for my Dragon cam.I'm new at this. I've been thru' the procedure with an old hand a couple of days ago and what I've done this evening seemed more or less familiar but I cannot seem to get the interface to work . All I get is 'cannot open Com1 port.' I also had 'extraction error when I downloaded the zip file but that eventually went.
Does this stuff work with Vista? Am I doing anything wrong with the interface connection to the laptop (usb). A quick run thru' with the set up from connections to actually putting the cam into the receiver would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Dougpug,
welcome to the forum.
Can you please post more details of your programmer so that we can ascertain if there are working Vista drivers for it. As you state that there is a problem with Cpm port 1, I assume you have a phoenix programmer and are trying to load a PIC F84a loader card, is this correct?
Does your computer have a dedicated COM port or are you using something like a USB to Serial adapter.
The more accurate information you can provide the better the chance of someone being able to help you.

I found that very little seems to work correctly under Vista

I've gone back to dual booting FreeBSD and XP and everythings peachy again

I have found that turning off the 'User Account Control' in Vista solves a lot of problems. Security is compromised and you have to suffer the warning on bootup but things run better.

Hi there. In reply to Micha's request for more info re. Dragon Cam and Vista. I am using Dragon cam and CAS interface 3 plus, connection via USB. I now seem to have it all installed ok (I think).I have a red light and a green light on the interface and the device is recognised on the Dragon loader card window by it's serial number, as per the manual on the Duolabs website. So far so good.

The device manager looks ok (drivers in place etc) but where I am coming unstuck is that I cannot get any of the 'firmwear' so that I can write it to the loader card.

I just cannot see what I should be doing. Where I am today is an improvement on where I was this time yesterday but I want to be watching some successfully unencrypted TV channels!

So How do I get the data to load the card? If you can help please make it simple....thanks
