DTH platform Sky Italia has signed an agreement with all Serie A squads for the satellite TV rights for next season’s Italian football league which starts on August 25. This is the first time in several years that the entire package of league matches has been available on satellite from the very start of the competition. The return of Juventus, Napoli and Genoa to the Serie A has increased the value of the rights package, forcing Sky Italia to make an additional effort to secure all of the matches.
Meanwhile, Italian satellite solution and services provider Telespazio has signed an agreement with Sky Italia for the creation and management of two new teleports. The new teleports will be located near Sky’s Rome and Milan Santa Giulia headquarters, enabling the transmission of more than 160 digital satellite TV channels. Source: advanced-television
