The Polish National TV management has officially adopted a new satellite channel for Belarus “Belsat”. That was required for completing the formalities and starting broadcasting. According to the channel’s representative, Belsat is to start broadcasting this November. Now the preparation of personnel and hardware is underway.
According to Radio Svaboda, the channel will be in the air every day broadcasting in Belarusian for 16 hours. Agreement on establishment of the satellite channel was signed in April by the Polish TV and the Foreign Ministry of Poland. The latter will become the major sponsor of the project which is to be financed from the stand-by budget of the Foreign Ministry of Poland. Source: Charter’97 via Media Network Weblog
