Default How weird is this!!!!

I patched my brother's 1000D receiver earlier today by swapping it temporarily on my set up with my 1600 CI which went quite smoothly, but I was dumbfounded to find that signal quality on 1000D was on average 5 to 6% higher than my 1600
For example, I get 79% tops on RAI channels and I was hitting 86% on the 1000 ( I've got an 80cms dish with monoblock by the way) :
Why is that folks!!!

As they are different models, you can't really compare them. They vary - just as different makes do. They are probably just graduated differently. The real test would be to tune to a marginal signal on your system (which has visible picture break-up) and see if the picture is better on the 1000D.

Regards,

Yorks.

Agreed.

It could be a difference in the tuners, or maybe just a difference in the numbers.

Only a range of tests will tell you for sure. Draping a wet towel over part of your dish face and adjusting it's position until you get a little pixellation and then swapping receivers is one way to do it.

Taking a soldering iron to both boxes and swapping the tuners in another!
