Viewers of BBC Scotland will be able to enjoy 30-minutes of midweek highlights from the Clydesdale Bank Premier League from next season.
The broadcaster has also secured the rights to offer football fans the chance to view on-demand goals from all the weekend matches online for a period of up to seven days. Live commentary of every league game will continue on radio. BBC Scotland will also deliver commentary and analysis using split frequencies and localised opt-outs available via the red button on digital satellite. Ewan Angus, head of sport, BBC Scotland, said: "We are delighted to have secured such a comprehensive rights package with the SPL. We are looking forward to providing an exciting mix of coverage over the next five years. It is excellent news that our audiences across the country will continue to enjoy our unrivalled live service on BBC Radio Scotland." "Both the television highlights programme and the online offering will ensure fans are kept up to date with all the goals and all the big talking points from every top flight fixture. The online provision of weekly football highlights is a first for the BBC and we are sure it will become increasingly popular as the pace of internet usage accelerates," he added. Irish broadcaster Setanta Sports currently hold the rights to broadcast live SPL matches, which it won from the 2004-5 season.

WTF? 30 minutes of highlight per week? The SPL should be paying the BBC to show them.
