Default Superjack DG-120 mounting??

Hi everyone!

I'm a total newbie who just bought a Dreambox 7000 and a motorized antenna... (I know, I know, it's a challenge... ) I just finished the installation and I have a small problem. The antenna seems to have confused east and west. When the antenna should turn towards east it turns towards west and vice versa. It feels like I have mounted the motor upside down. I mounted it with the axis facing downwards, because it felt natural with the text on it facing the right direction, (see attached picture).

I live in the northern hemisphere. Has anyone experienced the same problem or does anyone know if there are any mounting instructions available for the DG-120 motor?

Many thanks in advance.

/robban.

You have mounted the right way, dish mounting stub and co-connectiond pointing down.
Are you sure that the motor is going the wrong way?
From behind the dish east is to the left and west is to the right. IE the way the sun (when visible) goes across the sky, east to west.

Thanks BlackHawk, at least I got something right! :

Yes, I'm pretty sure it goes the wrong way. When I'm pointing it to the east, it turns right and when I'm pointing it to the west it turns left... As if it was pointing towards north at 0°... :?

I might add that this is an used set that I've bought. Maybe the old owner had it mounted the wrong way. Is there any way of configuring which way the motor is mounted in the dreambox perhaps?

I'm confused... :?

Here is something that I have read recently about re-setting the DG-120.
Drive the dish to zero/refernce via your box. Fine tune to zero via the two push buttons at the base of the motor(drive east/drive west). Turn off the receiver, push the two buttons in together, turn the receiver on and hold the two buttons in for 10-15 seconds, turn off the receiver for abour 30 seconds. When you next turn on the receiver the motor [should run correctly.
Is the receiver set up correctly for east and west satellites. Has east been transposed for west and vice-versa?
Lastly, I have read that the DM box does seem to have problems interfacing with motors, but which ones I cannot remember.

Just a few quick thoughts.

Yep, I think your motor is mounted correctly.

There are some notes on the motor plugin I use for my Skystar card which allows the direction of the motor drive to be flipped for some motors via a checkbox. IIRC it's to do with signage and convention where 1W is defined as 359E or -1(W).

On the Dreambox LNB menu, there is a checkbox 'Swap Commands'. I've never played with it. Perhaps you could try that? I can't see what else it would be for.

Thank you very much for your replies! I will try to reset the antenna to see if that helps. Since it's a used set, I assume that it must have been working fine at some stage and that's why I find it odd that it doesn't work now.

Thats an interesting one because the one I have just installed seems to do the same thing but it works fine and looking at it from behind it is actually correct. I have a remote positioner not a disecq motor and when I press left it goes right and vice versa but as long as I store the position it works fine.
