From all that has been suggested so far maybe we can sum up advice for Kanbuda00 as follows:
1. Do not tamper with the Sky dish yet. 2. When you get the receiver, connect it to the Sky dish as currently aligned; with a little luck it should already be aligned to Astra 2 @ 28e where you can get most of the free channels (mostly English-speaking) normally available on 'Sky'. 3. if you get a new dish (e.g. the Lidl dish*) you can then align that to Hotbird. 4. you can combine reception from both the Sky dish and the second dish into the one receiver by using a 'diseqc' switch (about £5); that way you will enjoy free 'Sky' and Hotbird seamlessly. * In fact the Lidl dish is actually 70cm (like one or two other dishes marked 80cm but which are really 70cm); it is still perfectly suitable for Hotbird and a host of other powerful satellites. ![]()

Thanks Guys for all your help.
I am going to do exactly as advised and buy the TM 1500+ and hook that up to my sky dish. I can then get a feel for what I am doing and hopefully in time (and you guy's help no doubt) I will be ready to start experimenting for myself. I have seen the TM 1500+ on eBay and it says it is already patched. Should i buy that one or just go for a normal one? |

Ready-patched is fine. You'll probably need to update it anyway.

Buying a pre-patched one is OK, but bear in mind that you will probably want to patch it yourself sometime in the future.
New patches are coming out all the time, I've probably patched mine half a dozen times or so since starting out in October. Plenty of folk on here will be able to talk you through patching if you need any help, and it's nowhere near as frightening as it sounds ![]() Kev p.s. Sticks turbo fingers beat me to it again : ![]()

Hello
I have finally bought my Technomate 1500+. I have set it up with minimal problems. The sky dish is only getting quality if 60%. All the channels on it are very choppy. I am guessing that i will have to buy a new dish a little sooner than I had hoped. After reading alot of other posts i have seen that if I want both Polish TV and maybe Prem Football in the future I would need a twin LNB? Also what size dish should i get. I live in West London and from what I have seen most people suggest an 80cm will be fine. Would that be OK if i want to get DigitalB as well as Polish TV? Thank again for all your help. |

At which satellite is the dish currently pointing? Most likely 28E used by Sky? You can confirm this if most of the channels you are getting are in English.
To get the dish working fully, you probably only need minor adjustments; very very tiny movements sideways or upwards/downwards. Give it a go if the dish is accessible. To get Digitalb, it is advisable to use minimum 90cm dish to give good margin for poor weather. Since you are not using a Sky card and also not using a Sky receiver; your easiest and possibly best option is to buy a 90cm dish and have it motorised. Alternatively you could leave the Sky dish at 28e (especially if it is already there); then get a 90 dish and three slim (Alps) LNBs to use for 13e, 16e & 19e. The three and the output from the Sky dish will all go into your one TM receiver through a Diseqc Switch.

Hi Bigtee
Yes the dish is pointing at 28E. I will try moving it around a bit and see what I get. I have had a look around for a new dish and have seen a triax 88cm with a lemon 0.2 LNB and a DLS meter for £39.99 delivered. Seems OK to me what do you think? http://www.wizardsatellite.co.uk/ind...roducts_id=259 |

Pretty good price
and the dish can be readily motorised or used for a multi-lnb set up. ![]()
