Hiya everyone,
Getting there slowly, Is there any way I can find out the names of the satellites and their positions. My arm is aching from moving the satellite finder around. And the neighbours are starting to talk in whispers, giving me funny looks and walking on the other side of the road. Best Wishes Pantyvest |

Do you mean while you're waving the dish around?
The normal approach is to get it locked on to any satellite (using the meter) around where your compass says you should be looking. Then disconnect the inline meter, reconnect the coax and head indoors for a nice cuppa! In your lounge, not even your neighbours can hear you scream :roflmao: Then using a process of elimination, scan each nearby satellite in the receiver's memory and see which one pulls up the vast majority of channels listed under it. Now do a little channel-hopping to see if the channels actually display the correct on-screen logos! Once you have found a (the) satellite in the middle of your arc, one on the Eastern side and one on the Western side, the others will naturally fall into the gaps. The top-tip here is to mark exactly on the dish/motor scales and pole etc. the places where you have actually got good reception on-screen, and then like the dutiful husband full of beer, you can always find your way home. ![]() Holding the edges of the dish and gently flexing the face to see whether a little up/down/left/right movement will improve things or make them worse (without actually slackening anything off) will save many hours of spannering, cursing and bleeding knuckles too.
