Default Motorised dish with building blocking line of sight

Excuse my ignorance, I'm a complete beginner.

I've always had Freeview in the past but can't receive it any more. I live on the ground floor of a 5 storey block and there's no communal aerial or dish.

There's another 5 storey block about 100ft away on the east side of our block (east) and a 2 storey business premises on the other side (west).

People in our block have access to place dishes on the east and west side walls (most people seem to have Sky minidishes on the east side plus one non-sky one aimed elsewhere.

On the west side it seems to be only non-sky dishes (there's a big Portuguese community in the area).

Ideally I'd like to get a motorised dish but am I right in presuming it probably won't be able to see all the major satellites given the dishes aimed in different directions on each side of the building?

If so, is there an option to have two motorised dishes coming into one controller (not that I'd be able to afford it, just curious)?

Interestingly the MI6 building is nearby to us and they have dishes pointed in just about every direction!

Are those walls facing dead west and dead east? Most content is between 40 Degrees East & 40 Degrees West of South...

If they were strangely facing dead east and dead west, then you could probably still recieve everything you want on one side, but you'd have to get some large brackets to mount the dish on, so you can get the satellites close to due south... (Such as 7 West).

& Yes, you can hook two motorised dishes together, but not all receivers support it.

Oh and as for MI6, thats just so all the 00s can 'learn' from watching German porn

Hi Patrick,
Welcome to the forum. . It is always difficult to answer these questions regarding possible obstacles, but if there are any Sky dishes close to you, ie next door, then you should be able to receive something. Whether you have a clear enough line of sight to consider motorizing, is a different matter. A monobloc, or muti lnb setup may be an option if not. It depends what you want to receive and how much you are willing to spend.

It is possible to have 2 motorized dishes on one system, but you would need to do your homework to ascertain exactly which extra satellites you would get, before going to the expense of a second motorized dish. Quite a few enthusiasts have a motorized dish on the easterly sats, and a fixed dish on one of the westerly sats. 30W is the most popular for the latter.

Regards,

Yorks
