I even managed to fetch one of these back, it was stuck in the LNB with eggs as well. I think they must have been living in the mount as there were a few. My friend tells me at least one of them was one of these:- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/devon/6919252.stm
Anyway will post more pics I as move on. |

Ah, so it is a 1.8. This should be an interesting photo-diary
![]() Are you going to motorise it? At least the az-el mount is good. No rust evident. Even the stand looks good! How are you going to clean the face up? I see you've had a go already. Some people use car wax to help protect the surface once clean, but I'm not sure it would work on a glass dish :?

Just as a reference, the first half of this project (the purchase!) is detailed in this thread:
http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...ic,6082.0.html I would be wary of using anything too aggressive on the dish. Maybe you could try a disinfectant solution on it as opposed to something like bleach. I find that's great for removing both black and green staining on patios etc, so maybe it would work on your dish? I find it takes a couple of days to really do it's work. Are you going to reuse the stand, or is it not suitable?

Try using Coca Cola
![]() The proper pukka coke stuff is fantastic for cleaning stuff with ![]() Dont forget to let it soak though. If there are any fixing holes in the face, bung them up with blue tack and then just pour it in and leave it over night ![]() ![]() Nano

Yes the mount and stand are galvanised so are pretty much in as new condition, the arms holding the LNB are rust free too. How much does the az-el mount and stand usually go for? They are pretty heavy bits of kit. My next prob is the mounting of this. Ideally I would like to find a flat patio slab or similar and mount to that, but it would have be large and heavy enough to hold it. Also when you say re-use the stand, what other options do I have? The main alternative would be to scale this up: http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...ic,1240.0.html Whatever you do, don't underestimate the huge wind-loading forces which will act on a 1.8m sail in a good storm.
