If you want to get some channels on a reasonably permanent basis, go for the Dreambox and dont mess about with patches.

So, to conclude: it looks like there is no such thing as cheap patchable receiver with softcams and network interface. If I want an "easy life" I have to buy either Dreambox or another TM9100.
Is this conclusion correct?

The cheapest new STB with Ethernet is either the TM-9100 or the DM-500 AFAIK - both around £110 if you catch the right offer.

The cheapest patchable STB is the TM-1000D at £55.

The cheapest supported tuner with Ethernet capability is the Skystar 2 PCI card at £45.

You aren't going to do better than that unless you uncover something else that we don't know about.

Only you know how much money you have to spend, but you did emphasise 'cheapest' and 'patchable'. If you go any cheaper than that, you'll end up with a box with poor or non-existent support.

If you only want FTA then there are a number of super-cheap options as you know.

I have both the TM1000D and the Skystar 2 PCI and both do an excellent job I can always find something to watch but no doubt that will change once the football season starts.
