Default Loop - through?

I am in the process of setting up a motorised system - Technomate TM-1500 CI+ Super, Technomate 2200 motor and 1m Funke dish. I will be using my Panasonic Sky receiver to watch Sky subscription channels so will need to add a loop-through. What hardware do I need for this, do I just make up a loop using cable and 2 f-connectors or do I buy something off the shelf? There is a "loop out" socket on the back of the Technomate receiver but where should it connect to on the Sky receiver? Also do I need to connect red and white audio leads and yellow video lead from the back of the Technomate receiver to the tv or is this covered by the scart lead?
Thanks.

Hiya.

You can plug the dish into the LNB input on the Technomate, and then run another piece of standard coax with two F plugs fitted from the 'Loop Out' socket on the Technomate to the normal LNB input on the Sky digibox.

You can also run a SCART lead from the Technomate TV SCART socket to the Sky digibox VCR SCART socket, and then another from the Sky digibox TV SCART to the TV. This will take care of the sound, so no need to connect the audio leads.

You will have to put the Technomate in standby to use the Sky digibox, and to use the Technomate, you will have to turn the Sky digibox off at the mains. Putting it into standby is not enough.

This isn't the best situation at all.

You could buy a priority switch, like Globalcom's SPS1, but by far the best bet is to fit a twin output LNB and run a second cable - one to each receiver.

Like this

The only difference being is that i use the RF out from the digibox instead of the scart

Just incase anyone was wondering, its not a pirate card in the Sky box

My kids snapped the end of the card off while inserting coins in to the receiver (Yes they like doing that, fortunately they haven't found the card slot on my dreambox yet : I have had to cut the chip out of the Skycard and place it into another so i can remove the card when needed

I'm glad you explained about the card. The forums would have been flooded with requests for the new O2 NDS clone!

Is your digibox connected between the Techno and the telly Nano?

I assume you have to turn your digibox off at the wall to let the Technomate do it's thing properly, yes?

Quite simple really, explained in laymens terms for the not so knowledgeable

The Technomate is connected to the TV by the scart lead

The Sky Digibox is connected to the TV by the RF out c@ble

The c@ble from the lnb goes to the input on the back of the Technomate and then the loop out goes to the Digibox

Basically the TV is setup to always go to channel number 1 when it switches on, i.e the channel the Digibox is tuned into.

If the TV is switched on when the Technomate is already on the TV automatically goes to AV1 and the loop through to the Digibox is switched off by the Technomate. When i switch the Technomate off the loop through is reactivated, the TV goes back to channel 1 and i'm watching Sky again

Simple really :nahnah:

The only problem that ever arises is that he DISEqC motor is controlled by the Dreambox down stairs. If i want to switch between satellites i have to get up and go down stairs to switch it over

Ah, that's cool. Not many receivers do that

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm trying to set up the dish at the moment. Can anyone tell me a transponder I should use for Turksat 42E (Central Scotland)?

Here's where I'm at. Technomate-1500 CI+super receiver, Technomate 2200 motor, Funke 1m dish. Mounted on a South facing wall. Located BBC World on Thor 1W. Connected up motor. Used button on motor to swing the dish round to Astra 28E, flexing dish towards ground increased signal. Furthest West I could pick up was 5W - flexing dish towards sky increased signal. Moved motor back to zero and adjusted angle between motor and dish to correct (hopefully) "apex" position. Moved whole assembly on pole slightly to pick up BBC World on Thor 1W again. Was now able to pick up Hispasat 30W and after slight adjustments to elevation of the dish on the dish assembly, and then returning to BBC World Thor 1W, I now have the following :-
Hispasat 30W 79%, flex dish up and it goes up to 82%.
Astra 28E 79%, flex dish up still 79%.
I am now trying to pick up Turksat 42E on Transponder 12.652 GHz, 22.500 MS/s H
I have tried changing to a couple of other transponders but cannot pick anything up.
Hope this makes sense
Any suggestions/advice appreciated, thanks

Fox Türk 11779 V 6250-5/6 Its on a nice strong transponder from where i am

If you look at Turksats Western footprint you can see its easy to get in the whole of the UK

Don't bother with anything of the eastern beam unless you have a huge F.O dish

12.652 is on Spotbeam 1. You can get it in the UK but its at its weakest in Scotland so you'll be better off trying a transponder on the western beam to start with

Just noticed that my receiver is stating the FEC is 4/5 not 5/6 as Lyngsat is stating, not that it would matter on the Technomate as it doesn't need it anyway, but i just thought i'd point it out before someone else does

Thanks nanochickin, I've just tried that transponder on the advanced search menu and moved the dish between 35-45 degrees - nothing, quality does not go above 7%. Same when I go to a fta channel on 42E using that transponder. I've just had a horrible feeling though. There is a house higher up than mine across the road. Astra 28 is above that house's roof and I pick that up no problem. When the dish is aimed around 42E the lnb arm is pointing into clear sky but with 42E being lower in the arc there may be a chance the western edge of the dish is in the line of the corner of the roof. If the dish was pointing at the satellite though should I still get an increase in quality or is this possibly the problem?
