Hi guys, yes this is the one with freeview init @ about 140 ish, maybe a bit less if you shop about.I use my vantage more than any other receiver atm,& i have many other receivers.Add the vantage to a meter dish or bigger,& it becomes a great feedhunting tool on its own. Also you can patch it,or if you have a ALB card the cam is built in.So those watching footie wont need a conax cam. These are just a few good points with the vantage, there are others good points as well.I dont run mine from pc but some guys do,i dont know much about this part with vantage. Also the cams built in can read many things so im told.

Wod ... The model no. of this Vantage unit is "X221TS CI" ... I think the "T" stands for Terrestrial (i.e. Freeview) and the "S" for Satellite. As I say, mine receives signals from four LNBs (reading 1W, 13E, 19E and 28.2E). In addition I have a cable from my loft aerial (analogue) which plugs into the Vantage unit and provides Freeview channels (although most of these, except the Channel 4 ones, are also available from 28.2E/Astra2D). I've removed the Freeview box completely.

I've seen the word "patch" here and there but to me "Patch" is our neighbour's dog. I'm away for most of today, but I would definitely like to know more at your convenience.
Patching means loading your receiver with unofficial software (over the official software) with the result that it might open for free some channels that should be ordinarily paid for. How to do it depends on the particular receiver though very similar generally. Also though patching is easy, it should be done with care so as not to damage the receiver. finally, info on unofficial software (also called firmware) and how to patch can be found by googling.

BigTee ... Thanks for the explanation. I had thought it was the card you patched, not the receiver - so a light just went on when I read your post.
I have actually ordered a year's subscription for Danish news channels (which are Conax-encrypted) DR1, DR2, etc, on 1W/Thor 2. Maybe during the next year I'll learn whether there are any patches that do the same job - I don't want to "steal" premium viewing material, just watch the news occasionally on a public channel ... but unfortunately the only satellite access is via Canal Digital or Viasat ... :-( ... I don't want to sit in front of my computer watching it on the Internet, not quite the same experience as a comfortable sofa seat.

None of those channels are available on a regular patch, so your money was well spent
