Default Vantage X221TS CI excellent, but question ...

I've just bought a Vantage X221TS CI satellite receiver. Been using it for about a week and so far I'm extremely pleased with it.

But I've run into (I think) a minor problem: while fiddling idly with the remote, I somehow managed to bring something up on the screen that won't go away ... I think it has something to do with Text TV (although it was definitely only the receiver's remote I was working with): at the top of the screen there's a black field saying "P100" and at the bottom four fields (Red, Green, Yellow, Blue) showing left to right "P101", "P102", "P103" and "P104". It looks like some kind of multiple-choice screen that allows you to choose from among pages 100-104 - but they won't react and won't go away, even when I switch the whole thing off at the wall and have rebooted the set-top box! I've had them on my TV screen now for about 24 hours. Anyone know what they are (are they useful?) and - especially - how to get rid of them?

FYI, I'm using the receiver to watch three satellites (28.2E, 19E, 13E) on one fixed dish and a fourth (1W) on a second fixed dish, combining the signals with two 4x1 DiSEqC switches before they feed two single cables down to two separate receivers.

Thanks - Charles

Good stuff. Is your DiSEqC setup switching properly between all four satellites on both receivers?

I take it all four LNBs are twin outputs? What make are they?

Cheers!

Hi again ... yes, guys, the text button seems to be the problem - or rather the fellah holding the remote, who may have pressed some combination including the text button ... ;-)
Anyway, I managed to get rid of the offending screen fields by pressing TEXT, then TV on my TV remote.
Thanks for all your suggestions/comments.

Stick: I got some advice/comment from you a couple of months ago or more about trying to get Danish, German and other languages. It's taken a bit of time (and I haven't quite finished yet - for example, I have only one receiver so haven't tested the system with two receivers yet). The brief answer at present is ... the DiSEqC switches are working smoothly between the four satellites, at least with my single receiver. Will report later when I get my second receiver, which will probably be another Vantage. The LNBs are Smart Titanium (2nd Edition) Universal Twin 0.2 dB. Signal strength is about 95%, signal quality 99%. My Freeview channels from my analogue attic aerial are coming in a little weaker - maybe because of poor alignment.

I am watching only FTA stuff but will have to buy a Canal Digital subscription card in order to see the Danish news channels (Conax-encrypted). The intention, of course, is to let each receiver have full independent access to all available channels (except for the Danish ones, which will only be available on the receiver holding the card).

Hi Charles, your vantage can be patched so you can see some more channels other than fta.Have a word with neovo on satforumz,im quite good with this receiver but he knows more than i.For a start your need the channel editer & winup26 to help you with this.

That's very interesting news, Sid. I've seen the word "patch" here and there but to me "Patch" is our neighbour's dog. I'm away for most of today, but I would definitely like to know more at your convenience. Any websites I can read about this - like Patching for Dummies or something ... :-) ... ?

I'll google for "patch" "channel editor" and "winup26".
