Default Re: How to measure elevation correctly?

I want to connect to astra2 and eurobird1 (28 degree to the east), currently I am on Astra 19.2E, where do i have to move the dish, up/down, left right? If my coordinates are correct the elevation has to be at 36, the azimuth 167 and the LNB skew 9 degree. It's very similar to astra1. Do I just have to move the dish a little to the left? May then I get signal?

Looking at the dish from the satellite position, move the dish to the right and down a bit. The amount you move it is 28.2-19.2 = 9 degrees. The lnb need to be turned to the right about 9 degrees as well --ish.

If you are likely to move the dish very often, then it would be worthwhile getting a polar mount or a motor which automatically makes the up/down and skew corrections for you.

A little right and down a bit? According to Clark belt and FastSatFinder I have to turn it to the left. That will be difficult because the chimney won't let me move the dish left enough. I hope your calculations are correct.
The screenhot of FastSatFinder can be viewed here: _http://www.vetrun.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7130&page=8
At post number #116
And the Clarke Belt calculations: _http://www.vetrun.net/forums/showpost.php?p=81211&postcount=36
You results are against these one.

No, wait, you are correct. It's the same. Do I have to be behind south when looking at Clark Belt? Is it practical to move the dish to the right first and just after that a little down. How many degree?
And sorry for posting an other forum's website here, but I couldn't upload the pictures from my PC. It won't happen again.

If I want to connect to eurobird1 28.5E, which transponder do I have to pick for searching?
I have signal, 82-90%, but I can't get picture. Are you sure that Eurobird's Sky Digital packages are free to air? I used 10832,H,22000 for astra 1. I can only receive few radio and tv channels. I mean 10 or less.

I haven't configure the frequency, symbol rate, FEC etc. I don't know the correct numbers. Please give me the transponder that I need to receive all the channels.

Use information in the link below; once you get used to the layout, you will find all the info about transponders and which channels are on them, which are FTA etc.

Si if I choose 12129-V-27500 as a transponder I will only receive few channels in that group or all? In that transponder is a music channel that I want to watch (B4U music UK). I am using a software called FastSatFinder to find a satellite. It is like a real satfinder. I connect it to my PC receiver (skystar2). It will detect the satellite even if I have only 26% signal. And I need a transponder for searching a satellite. I previously said that what kind of transponder did I use to detect astra1. I'm using a PC card. I have a Tv receiver, but it is not programmed to astra2 and eurobird1, I have to manually configure it.
I can choose from these transponders. Maybe I can download more:
