Hi,
Im looking at getting into the satellite world. I was planning on getting a technomate 9100 with a 80cm motorised dish. But ive been looking at the 80cm dish and it looks too big to pass it by the girlfriend. My question is what issues will i have with a smaller, say 60cm dish? what satellites will i get with a 60cm dish? i live in manchester. I was hoping of getting some of the football on the D+, cabo etc.... is this realistic? Also are there any options of using a smaller but more expensive (powerful dish)? One more question, once one satellite has been found can the rest be found automatically using the motor and disqc? thanks for all your help! |

![]() Im looking at getting into the satellite world. I was planning on getting a technomate 9100 with a 80cm motorised dish. But ive been looking at the 80cm dish and it looks too big to pass it by the girlfriend. Tell her its a new Paella dish ![]() My question is what issues will i have with a smaller, say 60cm dish? what satellites will i get with a 60cm dish? i live in manchester. You should be able to get 13e 19.2e 28.2e 30w and maybe 5w aswell I was hoping of getting some of the football on the D+, cabo etc.... is this realistic? You should be able to get TPS (France), Premiere (Germany), D+ (Spain) and Cabo (Portugal) at the moment, although Cabo are currently going through a Card swap ( To Nagra 3 i think :?) at this moment in time so we will probably lose TV Cabo in the next 2-3 weeks, maybe sooner Also are there any options of using a smaller but more expensive (powerful dish)? Not really i don't think, The more expensive dishes like Gilbertini, Katherine etc may get you a bit more signal gain but you can't beat a bigger dish ![]() One more question, once one satellite has been found can the rest be found automatically using the motor and DISEqC? In therory yes using USALS , but i found in practice with my Dreambox that i had to find them manually and store them in the rotor settings. ![]() Nano

![]() You could always swap the girlfriend :? ![]() You may get a loss of signal during heavy rain with a 60cm but, as Nano says, bigger is better ![]() Kev

The Moteck motor is the business AND cheap. There are any number of good budget dishes. Some great ones go on eBay for bu99er all. There's a nice transparent 85cm dish (...and a transparent 60cm dish
) in our Stuff on eBay section right now.

Global Orbit 80R is what i suggest mate. I've used them in the past and have had no problems getting most things with it
![]() I plumped for a Global Orbit 90R in the end when i decided to motorise the dish ![]() ![]() Nano
