Do you not have any instructions with the loader?

whats the loader, is that the softcam.key file or is it the software which I downloaded from the Phoenix website called 'All Updater'? I think this program is for updating the firmware, but I don't want to do that or perhaps the software can upload the keys only? I have the softcam.key file, tps.fns file, v_keys.db, v_sids.db, v_tps.db included in the RAR file. I downloaded it from ******.ch. I can't see any instructions anywhere. Thanks.

ok ignore my last post, i found a file containing the key updater, softcam file and instructions, so I should be able to get on with it now.

I just have one question before I go and do it. The instructions say to turn on my box when the the transfer process is about to start. Does this sound right? I'm just being cautious in case I mess up the box if its even possible. And after i've done it, the keys should be displayed in the hidden menu?

Thanks and I'll let you know how I get on with it!

does the receiver usually have to be turned off throughout the whole process of loading keys? The instructions, if i understood it correctly is saying to turn it on before you load the keys file onto the receiver. Thanks.

Good. I'm glad you found a full bundle including instructions. They sound a little ambiguous though!

Not sure about the keyfile as opposed to the firmware, but I suspect it's a similar procedure. I don't know how this box works.

For firmware, most receivers get flashed in a similar way. You have the STB powered off, connect the null-modem cable and then start the loader application on the PC. This initialises and queries the receiver - finding it unresponsive. It then normally prompts you on-screen to turn it on, which you should obviously do at this point.

And yes, once you've got the correct keyfile loaded, the keys should be visible in the menu you described.

It's probably not too dangerous loading just the keyfile. Get it wrong, or have incorrect keys and the decryption won't work. It's not as risky as reflashing the whole firmware. The risk with that of course is that once it's damaged, it may not be able to connect to the PC again to rectify itself.

Good luck. Please let us know how it goes, and the exact procedure you use, so that the next person can benfit from your learning experience.

I managed to do it successfully. What I did was I plugged in the null modem c@ble, then I opened the softkey file on the PC and clicked send and at this point I turned the receiver on and the process began. After a while it said done on the receiver, so I switched it off from the back and turned it back on again and that was it.

But one problem that I have is that whenever I go to Premiere Sport Portal, the portal works, but when I choose football or wrestling or whatever from the multiscreen, the portal screen just freezes with no audio, but if I choose to go back to the portal, then it goes back to it. I hope there is a way round this, but apart form that I am still really happy that I got it working.

Thanks for your help.

i also want to add that there are a lot of channels that are not decrypted.
For example VH1, MTV Spain, Nick Spain, Mezzo on 19.2e are decrypted, but most other channels on Digital+ are not decrypted, such as Taquilla, CNN+, Disnery Channel +1, Playhouse Disney, Eurosport, Disney Channel Spain, Fox News etc. I'm not sure wehat the reason for that is.

Not surprised the Premiere portal isn't supported. Just select the sub-channels manually from the main list.

A far as Digital+ is concerned, your keys are almost certainly out of date already.

The Phoenix frimware does actually support the Premier portal. Once at the portal channel press the Option button on the remote to display the sub-menu. Then select the required channel. However, I have noticed that this latest firmware release seems to have a bug in it which causes the sound to drop out when you select a Dolby Digital soundtrack. The way to get the sound back again is to reboot the machine. It's proving to be a bit of a pain. However once you have an english sountrack selected (which is never DD) the box seems to remeber that for next time.

I tried going to Premiere 1, 2, 3 etc. instead of going to them through the portal and it says they are encrypted, so I can't access them. Without the keys I can't access the portal, but with the keys I can access the portal, but not the actual video feeds. Not sure whats wrong there.
