Default SS2 and Elvis

Hello

I was just wondering wether I could use my SkyStar 2 PCI card and an old Elvis programmer to read a digALB card? Has anyone tried this before. I was wanting to watch as much EPL footy as possible especially Newcastle so this system (if possible) would at least guarantee me some matches.

Don't know much about card programmers, but I believe it's possible with a Phoenix programmer - so if your Elvis can emulate that, then you're in with a shout. It would be great if you had a serious go at this.

I'd love to hear of a working setup with the SS2. It's certainly possible to share a card if you could set up your own server on your LAN, but I think it's a lot easier if that server were running Linux.

There was a way of reading a card on the dream box with a Phoenix programmer.

As the internal readers could not read the card. Cant remember what the card was.

So if its going to work will have to be in phoenix mode. It would be good to know if can be done.

I've got a Sky card working in a Phoenix card programmer on my Dreambox Works with more than one CAM, including GBOX.

It means you can run three cards at the same time.

Ok I 'll dig out my old programmer im sure it could emulate a phoenix programmer but i'd have to check, its been a while that goes for programming in Linux too.

Would I be able to use my sky FTA card first before buying a DigALB card, unless someone wants to lend me theirs .
If this doesn't work I think I may be shelling out for a receiver to go with the SS2. I knew this hobby would get expensive.

I'll let you know how I get on.

Your PC is running Windows XP or Linux?

Check out the i386 versions of the gbox or newcamd executables. You'll need to scour the net for them.

Yes, you can try it with your FTA card. You might find the betad version of newcamd easier. Have a good wade through the readme's.

It's not going to be a walk in the park, but I'm sure it can be made to work.

I am running XP on my PC at the moment but I have a spare harddrive so i will install linux on it if this will make it easier. As i said its been a long time since ive used linux so it will take me a while to get to grips with it again.

Sounds like ive got a bit of light reading to do.
