I have a skystar2 satellite card. Almost every time I open the DVB viewer I get that error:"No valid DVB device found" and always have to reinstall the program and driver, it's very annoying. I tried ProgDvb, it's cr@p. Freezes. What program do you use for watching satellite tv on your computer? In device manager the card is at the network tab.

Just wondering, are you using the latest drivers?
Also, what operating system are you running? Also, is the PCI card pushed in securely (Not wanting to patronise you, but even the best of us make stupid mistakes)?

I use Altdvb, which I find much easier to use than Progdvb.

Yes, I mainly use AltDVB V2.2.
Try moving the Skystar to a different PCI slot. Assuming you're using WinXP, it will detect is as a new device (Skystar #2 or whatever) and you'll have to install the drivers one more time. Also, once it's detected correctly and reliably, you need to start it from the Network Connections page in Control Panel if it doesn't start itself. You'll also need to manually install Elecard decoders with AltDVB.

A reply to Gav:
i don't know anything about the driver. I just installed it from the CD. I am using Windows XP. The card is pushed in into the slot. |

hi sterbik
When you run prog dvb in devices you need to start skystar2.Highlight then click start. Also you can try dvbdram a bit more stable than prog dvb. ALBERT ![]() |

Yep, DVBDream is another good alternative to ProgDVB, and can be downloaded free from:

When you get the list of dvb devices, make sure you select the SS2, or DBA if using Vista, and then make sure the default box is selected before clicking start or ok.

In the windoze xp device manager, does it show the dvb card ok?
As Stick said, is the sat card in the correct PCI slot? I cant remember which, but it should go either into the slot nearest the video card or not that slot on some motherboards.
