Hi all,
Just joined the site and looking for some advice please? I've just bought a new house and i've just started renovating. I'm just about to lift the floorboards to re-wire the electrics and although i'm not ready to sit back and enjoy sky TV yet (probably a good few months away). Should I run cables into every room for Sky TV? should it be from a centre point in my house where I would fit a booster? What kind of cable would / should I use? Any advice or links would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance Mearnsbull |

Minimum cable requirement is RG6, You will need 1 feed from RF2 output on Sky box. You will then need a distribution device. that will require some sort of power supply although you can get one that takes its powere from the RF2 output on the sky box, it will also need a bypass circut built in if you want to be able to use a magic eye to change channels from another room.
something like the following are good. _http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=33969&doy=6m8 They also make a model that takes its power from the sky box _http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?ModuleNo=48669&doy=6m8 This is a 2 way but I think you can get ones with more

Yes, bring everything together at a central point - maybe in the loft. That will give you the most flexibility in the future.
I would use the best quality cable you can afford - with a minimum standard of CT100/H109/WC100 but preferably WF100 double-shielded in copper with a foam filled core. I would also run two cables to each room. You can then either have a sky plus box in each room, use the second cable for terrestrial (or something else even) or just leave it for future use. It's no more trouble to run a pair of cables than a single, and far cheaper to do it now rather than once all your flooring is down. STICK

I was thinking more of the newly discovered health risks concerning wifi.

I think it's highly likely that the total effect of man-made radiation will have a detrimental long-term effect on human health, but it may never be proven.
Photocopiers and laser printers emit ozone, which is apparently harmful to the atmosphere! ![]()
