Default German Astra 19.2 and Sky TV 28.2

Hello I'm very new to this and have a couple of questions.
I live near Frankfurt in Germany and am setting up a 90 cm Satellite Dish with Two LNB’s to receive Astra 19.2 East(German Programms) and Astra 28.2 East(English Sky TV).
Can you advise me on the correct angles ect. for the Dish and the spacing of the LNB’s.
Will I get good signals on both Satellites or should I Install each LNB on a separate dish.
Many Thanks

Hi wagdin - welcome to the forum :welc1:

Firstly, have a look at this thread - particularly the second post - for detailed reception information on Astra 2D in Germany. It contains a lot of information, and illustrates that your 90cm dish should get you all transponders on 2D - the weakest of all the satellites co-located at 28.2E for your location (Frankfurt).

This is the way that I would approach your single-dish/two-LNB setup:

28.2E is going to be the trickiest to get reception on, so make it as easy as possible by adding the best LNB you can buy to the prime focal point of your dish i.e. in the standard LNB holder. Then align the dish on Astra 2 and peak the signal quality. Lock up the adjustment bolts and don't move the dish any more.

Use this online utility to help you align your dish on Astra 2 28.2E

http://www.ses-astra.com/consumer/az...p?locale=en_GB

Astra 1 at 19.2E is going to be a much stronger signal for you and will stand the second LNB being a way off the centre of the dish - so add your second LNB bracket offset as far as it needs to go to get Astra1. Understand that once the dish is aligned for Astra 2, getting reception on Astra 1 involves only the relative positioning of the second LNB, with no movement of the dish required at all.

The second LNB will be mounted off to the right as you look at the front of the dish.

You might find it easier to install a second dish and LNB for Astra 1 - it need only be 60 or 70cms to get better reception than having a second LNB on your 90cm dish.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on!

Hi,Thanks a lot your very quick reply.I've decided to setup two separate 90cm dishes both with quad LNB's.
I still need a bit of advice, I live at Latitude 49.95096 Longitude 8.85389. Can you tell me in which direction the dishes need to face and at what angle the dishes should be.I don't understand how to make the calculations myself, so maybe you could explain how the calculations are made.I'm sure this would also be of great help to other non mathmatical people like myself.
Again many thanks your expert help.

You can use the SES link I gave you above.

Alternatively, you can use the SMWlink software in our Utilities section

Both are very easy to use.

If you don't understand the information they are giving you, please post back here.
