A week after BSkyB said it was buying Sir Alan Sugar's set-top box maker Amstrad, rival device manufacturer Pace Micro Technology has announced a new business win with Sky.
Pace said the order - financial details were not disclosed - to supply additional Digiboxes to Sky built on its relationship with the pay-TV giant. "Under contracts awarded previously, Pace expects to commence deliveries of Sky HD boxes at the end of 2007 and continues to ship the digital video recorder, Sky+," said Pace. Commenting on the new supply agreement, Pace CEO Neil Gaydon said: "I'm particularly pleased that we will start supplying Sky HD boxes for the first time later this year." Sky and Amstrad are reported to be working on a set-top box designed to link every TV in the home and allow viewers to record and play back two different programmes on separate TV sets at the same time. As well as Pace, Sky has supply deals for set-top boxes in place with France's Thomson.
