Had a bit of time today, so decided to have a play - as you do. 8)
Out came the Lidl 70cm dish (in fact after today i might be generous and call it 80cm as they do) and the blue neosat LNB. Out also was the Fortec 5400 which, I've found, has a very good tuner indeed. First up, I went for 28E as a marker --- took about 3 minutes, since I know where exactly it is. Then it was the usual frustration that I'd experienced many times i.e. when searching for 26E you keep landing on either 23E or when coming back on 28E again. I decided to get clever by (a) listening very very carefully to the beeping of the cheap needle meter, and (b) making the most minute of movements to the dish when searching. Then --- Eureka!!! ![]() The transponder that I used to find it in the end was 12130V with the Dubai channels. But after achieving a lock, I found that the strongest transponders are 12169V, 12207V and after subsequent blind scan with the TM 1500, the strongest transponder was 12740. Unfortunately, most of the channels that I got on some other transponders were breaking badly. Worse, I didn't get the MBC channels. Worse still (or worser if you like), I have had to dismantle it all since the mounting of my non-sky system is on the ground where I already have the Raven dish. However, what I'm going to try next (at which I've so far failed) is to see if I can get it with an extra LNB on the Raven as soon as I get my hands on some more of the sliding holders. Anyway, i certainly enjoyed simply getting it today.

Excellent - that's what it's all about - having a bit of fun and finding something new to experience.Even when you think you've seen it all and viewed every transponder possible, those kind provider chaps will pay for another satellite to be launched - just for us to play with! It might cost them several million, but it costs us nothing :clap:

The MBC tp is particularly weak in the UK. Officially it has its own footprint:
