I can't get VLC to play back mpeg-4 .TS files. Either it's stupid, or I am.

Doh!

I find PowerDVD universally pretty good for playback, but it understands .TS like I understand quantum physics.

I'd assume it's a bit of both. For the new-fangled BBC HD and such I use the freehd variant of VLC:

_http://download.videolan.org/pub/testing/freehd/win32/vlc-0.8.5-freehd-win32.exe

...But I hear that the latest official version on the main site incorporates the MBAFF supported in the freehd variant. Either way, I can record a TS from BBC HD and drag-and-drop the file to VLC, which it then happily plays. There shouldn't be any trouble with it, really.

It used to be an option, but it may be standard now. I chose to go without, as I wouldn't have used it and it kept the cost down by a tenner.

It's just a little remote with an IR detector on a flylead.

Mine's been put back in it's box for maybe three years. Getting a motor plugin to work was the initial reason, plus it didn't like high SR's as I remember. Or was that low SR's :? :roflmao:

The plugin has been sorted now. It might even work with one of the apps with built-in motor controls like AltDVB, but I haven't tried. I kept it in case I needed to have a portable setup paired with my laptop, but I never ended up with a dish. I might try one of the little 35cm Lidl jobs

I have managed to record about 30 seconds of bbc hd but it only plays for about 1.5 seconds and then freezes until the end of the clip. The picture looks crystal clear but that is all I get. I can't view HD at all in altdvb or progdvb. Progdvb just gives me a black screen and altdvb gives error 3000 on about pins or something.

Not sure on that one Wod. I just have a separate positioner so don't usals or diseqc
