The Skystar 2 works with USALS using the SS2DiSEqC application.

What was that with, VLC? If so, you're probably skipping frames - click Settings > Preferences > tick "Advanced Options" > click "Video" on the left > untick both "Drop late frames" and "Skip frames".

I also had this working very well today using Media Player Classic.

Cheers m8 yes it was with VLC. I used altdvb to record (even though there was no picture on the screen) and then played it back with VLC. Will give the frames setting a look. I have MPC installed too so will give that a go aswell.

HD is working fine on VLC so why can't I get it to work on altdvb or progdvb? The correct codec must be installed to play it in VLC.

In altdvb I get "AV0:Graph Error [3004] ConnectPin:Cannot find pin [XForm In] from filter [CoreAVC Video Decoder]"

Great isn't it. They give you an error code (3004) but nowhere to look it up.

I did try chucking pin [XForm In] into Google, which produced some interesting results though.

given up on the HD front now. Had it working but with all swirly green yellow and blue patches all over it so messed with the settings and now it won't work at all again lol. Don't think it helps only having on board intel graphics.

VLC doesn't rely on system codecs, since it has all it needs to encode and decode things built-in. This explains why VLC works and others fail

tbh there is nothing worth watching on BBC HD yet anyway so I don't think its a great loss Going to get a nice PCI-E graphics card soon so might have another play with it then
