Default Monobloc--Help needed

I'm a novice at this game,(Although I am getting on a bit)---I have a Metronic monobloc--(2 LNB's) linked to my 80 cm dish. If I line up the Primary LNB on Astra 19
I get a good Signal --70%--and loads of channels--But no signal from Hotbird.

If I line up the Primary LNB onto Hotbird 13 (AS recommended) I get signals from both LNB's but the Quality is very Low --30/35%--and can only get a few channels on each Satellite.

Help needed please

Ian

:welc3: to the forum mate

As daft as it may sound have you got the monoblock the rightway up with the wire connecting at the bottom of the lnb

You also need to remember if the main focus is on Hotbird the lnb part that is needed for Astra 1 needs to be on the right side of the centre mounting point (i.e to the west not the east) if looking from the back of the dish. As daft as it may sound you can still get a signal showing even though your not looking at the correct satellite

It works like a mirror effect when fitting more than one lnb. (The monoblock is effectively 2 lnbs spaced 6 degrees apart with an inbuild DISEqC switch) The lnb will be on the opposite side from what you would expect it to be :?

Hope this helps

Nano

Default Poor quality readings

Some simple things to look at to improve signal quality readings.
These are in a very rough order of most-likely/beneficial/common down to odd/bizarre/unlikely/minor

-- Overall dish alignment not as it should be
-- Dish size too small
-- Incorrect LNB skew setting
-- LNB not at focal point of the dish due to
---- LNB too far forward in LNB clamp
---- LNB too far back in LNB clamp
---- LNB support arm bent or mal-aligned/fitted
-- Warped, damaged, dirty or poorly refinished dish face
-- Obstruction, or partial obstruction to line of sight (trees, buildings etc. etc.)
-- Old/failing LNB
-- Out of recognised satellite footprint
-- Poor quality coax/local interference
-- Unsuitable LNB for dish (mainly on either very large or small dishes or Sky/Non-Sky incompatibilities)
-- Damaged LNB (water ingress, spider's new home, heat damage, impact damage)
-- Incorrect feedhorn fitted (C120-type LNB)
-- Poor F connectors/fitting, though this usually has a very significant overall effect on operation

Just a couple of pics of the set up I did for my daughter (Yes I have posted them on other boards also).
The clamped LNB is lined up on 13east (Hotbird), the offset LNB pics up 19east. 80cm dish in Ilford Essex.

Thanks for the Advice guys. The Monobloc seems to be fitted the correct way round. I'll just have to experiment with the Dish Direction fine tuning a bit.--I'll let you know how I go on.

Cheers Ian (TOMMO7)

Welcome to the forum TOMMO7

Dont forget that the sat at 19.2E is a tad lower in the sky than the sat at 13E so you probably need to tilt the monoblock an itsy witsy bit for a good signal on both.
