Anyone wanting to start with the dreambox, I would recommend getting a secondhand 7000. You will learn a lot and have huge support. The 7020 is almost as well supported and will be soon but is dearer.

For anyone reading this thread and wondering between the 7000 and 7020.
Both are excellent boxes, but if you want to distribute the tv pictures by rf aerial connectors, you must buy the 7020 as the 7000 doesnt have the rf connections.

i dont need that so a 7000 would be good but got my eye on a 7020s
does the dreambox multiboot from the usb socket or from a cf card like the tm9100 does ? was hoping i could just use a usb stick 1gig with some images on it does dream multimedia do an official image to put on the flash and then run others from memory stick ? got my eye on one but will need to buy a new remote as that has been lost

Yes it does multiboot from usb or cf or hard drive although HD is not recommended because it makes the HD work too hard.
There is an official image for flash but I prefer one produced by EDG. I have 6 or 7 images on usb for playing and experimental purposes only of course. ![]()

looking at the specs
7020 - 32 MByte Flash - 96 MByte RAM no wonder the tm9100 is shite as it has about 32mb ram lol the 7025 has 128mb ram will the extra 32mb make any difference ? also how come both 7020,7025 have 32mb flash though the 7025 would have 64mb flash ?

You can use the USB stick as an extension of flash memory - jam all your /var stuff in there, swap partitions, whatever.
You can get a new remote from any official DMM dealer. http://www.satstore.co.uk/digirec.htm has them for £29.

That's where I got mine from many moons ago.
Just buy it. You won't regret it. Postage was OK too as I remember it. There is a small charge for using credit cards IIRC but it's not much. Mine took about 5 days to arrive.

I think it was just the 500 Wod. I've never seen or heard of anything about a fake 7020 anywhere on the net or anywhere else come to think of it so its highly unlikely
![]() Best thing to do is get one from a recommended source and there shouldn't be any problems. £270 for a 7020 is very good value for money if you ask me. Mine cost me over £300 so i would go for it. ![]() I'm sure there are lots of people here who would like to help you offload the TM9100 so that will give you a bit more spending money towards the 7020 ![]() ![]() Nano
