No. There's nothing that exactly matches between Astra1 and Hotbird.

The closest I could find was 12692 H 22000 5/6 on Astra1 and 12692 H 27500 3/4 on Hotbird.

I just tried tuning to ORF2 Europe on Astra1 and then driving my motor to Hotbird, and it found nothing, so you can't use this method.

You'll have to tune to a recognised channel on Hotbird before you move the dish.

No, not as long as you keep any new transponder settings under Hotbird. The receiver will keep transponder/channels listed by satellite.

THANKS I ll have to have a go

I used to jump from 19 to hotbird in the old
analogue days

Now Ive got the digi box I got onto 19 and
stayed there as there were tons of stuff

maybe hotbird is more french as 19 is more german

I remember I used to get polsat somewhere which was a good channel, lots of pop shows, maybe its gone
off freeview now and into encrypted.

Yes, some of it's encrypted (but hacked) at the moment - though some is still FTA!
