Welcome to the forum Matt.
You will get all sorts of advice from those with different interests. To weed out the excess answers, what sort of dosh are you able to expend? Are you able to deal with computer file transfers? Do you already have any satellite dish, cables, recievers? Do you have a computer lan network/router/internet broadband?

Hi Matt, welcome to Sat help
![]() It mainly depends on you're budget and general location. I'm assuming motorised would be what you're after as this gives you the most options. A good budget set up would be something along the lines of: Triax TD88 - £40 - £50 LNB - £10 T&K brackets + pole - £30 DiSEqC motor - £60 (maybe less) Receiver - TM 1000 FTA £80 or TM 1500 (includes card reader) - £100 CT100 or equivalent cable - £30 depending how much you need F connectors - £2 If you are going to ground mount it swap the T&K's for a ground mount - £60 These are just rough guides, you may well find them cheaper ![]() The TM's are easily patchable, which means you can watch pay TV without, err, paying Premier, Digital+ and Cabo are currently available. These have some very good movie channels as well as adult content ![]() You could, of course, spend as much as you like. A Dreambox 7000 (Linux based) costs around £300 and they are very highly thought of. You may want a bigger dish and motor, the choice is your's. Have you had a look at which channels/satellites you'd like to receive? As I say, the above is just a general guide of what would get you up and running in the UK ![]() Kev Edit: Fast fingers defruit beats me to it again ![]()

If you decide to go for the Dreambox 7020 or 7025 i can recommend SATSTORE.CO.UK. I got my 7020 from them. I paid for it on the Monday and it arrived on Tuesday
![]() I even managed to haggle the guy into posting it for nothing in the end. The other plus is that as they are an authorised Dreambox retailer you know you are getting the genuine article ![]() I got most of my other gear off ebay. I mostly use this guy. SYSTEMSAT-DIRECT Most of his stuff is good quality, although avoid the Faval dishes he sells as they are ![]() Nano

1m or 1.2m andrews dish jaeger 1224 36volt motor* andrews feedhorn and inverto c120 lnb dreambox 7020 linux receiver vbox all that would probably be around 650 depending on mounting brackets needed, coax c@ble etc would be a good system * ignore a place called satellite superstore who sell andrews dishes in newcastle i think as that motor can be bought for 85 plus shipping from hmsat germany as they sell it for nearer 200 quid but you could just check out them anyway as you sound not too far from them

I should point out that Satstore and Satellite superstore are not the same company. SatStore are based in Evesham, Worcestershire
