Can you help an o.a.p. living in the Ullapool/Poolewe area, west coast,Scotland.I am thinking of buying the digital satelllite package from Lidl as I cannot get a reception from ordinary t.v. or freeview. Will this be any good for me? Also I like to watch eurosport, speedway, tour de France etc. can you tell me which would be the best satellite to tune into,if I purchase the package.Or is there a website which tells me the programmes availab;e on each satellite.??

http://www.lyngsat.com/

It will tell you what stations are on which satellite but thats about it

Don't know of anywhere which would tell you what individual programs are

Hi digigran, welcome to the forum! :welc3:

Do you want/need the audio in English?

Do you want Channel4 and FIVE or can you do without them?

An old analogue receiver will get you Eurosport in English for example, but there are many more channels available on digital.

Tell us a bit more about what things you'd like to watch, or would expect to be able to watch and we'll make some more suggestions.

Preferably audio English but sub titles will do.
Would like to watch channels 4 &5.
Documentaries i.e. U.K. History etc. and all sport but only on free to air.

Do you have any sort of Sky subscription/FTV/Freesat card at the moment?

If you don't, you're going to need one from Sky:

_www.freesatfromsky.com

Just the card - forget all the £150 business unless you want the digibox too - just ring them. It'll be £20 for the card on it's own.

You'll also need to get a Sky digibox, assuming you don't want to get very technical and involved. You can either get one from Sky (as above) or get a second-hand one. They can be had for maybe £30 on eBay.

As for the rest of the channels, unfortunately you're going to need a second box. That may sound like bad news, but it would be well worth the inconvenience if you want to receive the other stuff out there.

You'll need to decide between analogue (very limited, but has free Eurosport in English) or digital (much more choice, but you'd have to forgo Eurosport. Loads of other free sport about though.)

As for the dish end of things, you'll either need two dishes, a motorised dish (not as complicated as it may sound) or a multi-LNB dish. You can buy these off the shelf and they should suffice with regards size even in your northerly location.

Perhaps a Force T90 toroidal dish would do the job, or maybe a Raven G90 or a Visiosat dish. See them all here:

Hope this helps.
