Does anyone have any experience of and (preferably) recommendations for a video sender? At present my satellite receiver is located at the back of the house but there are times when I would like to watch the broadcast in the front room on the main TV. I have considered cabling etc but a video sender would give me a cleaner, more flexible solution. Are they any good? I need one which can transmit a signal from the receiver based in the conservatory through a kitchen and dining room into the living room at the front of the house - the overall distance being around 50 feet. All advice would be gratefully received!

I never had a satisfactory results with video senders. There were issues with WiFi connections (sender was jamming the hell out of WiFi); microwave is jamming the hell out of sender, etc.
Tried Philips and TCM (Tchibo). The picture was best described as crap. If I were you I would go for cabling. In fact, if my project to connect TM9100 to TV via UPnP AV would fail, this is what I am going to do. |

Nah they are no good for sending pictures. The only thing i use mine for now is to relay the remote control signals so i don't have to go downstairs to switch channels if i'm watching TV in the spare room
The TV upstairs is now cabled upto the RF output of my Dreambox downstairs ![]() I already have my Technomate and Sky Digibox setup in my own bedroom so its just for the spare room ![]() ![]() Nano

Thanks for the responses so far... which probably confirm my suspicions about these devices. I have a Technomate TMS-1500 CI - what would provide the best cable connection across the 50 feet distance?

I would use the same CT100 as you would use from your dish to your receiver

nanochickin - thanks again for the response. Bearing in mind that the receiver is in one room and, on occasion, I may want to “connect” it to a TV which is in another room approx. 50 feet away, I was assuming that I would leave the receiver where it is and run a coax-cable from the RF Out to the TV. However, your response makes me question whether I should do that or should I extend the satellite cable – using a suitable connector – and move the receiver to the other room? Which would give the best result?

If you're going for very long RF cable runs, you may need a booster.

i've been using a video sender for a couple of years to watch terrestrial tv in an upstairs room.
i've just plugged it in to my TM1000 and it works perfectly - has saved me running a cable to other rooms and pleased the missus at the same time! Now i can have the sport or films on any tv in any room in the house. video sender is a Phillips and can run up to 4 separate receivers from it - if you want the model type let me know. regards, Si |
