tried the live mint linux version and it worked perfectly straight away just resized my drive to do a proper install. Will have a play with Kaffeine plugins over the weekend

I've started my rebuild now, so I'll salvage a drive to play with in a week or two.

As usual with Linux its a right pain in the backside but the picture is a hell of a lot clearer. Got the plugin installed I think but nothing is happening.

The last time I tried Progdvb under wine it didn't work at all nor did Altdvb. There are a few programs that are linux based but not with cam support unless you are very very patient and want to read a lot. One thingI that have noticed about the linux community is that they are not particularly helpful, they are more of the find out for yourself type. So unless things have changed much I would stick with kaffeine for the free to air stuff and progdvb/altdvb and xp for the cam stuff

I have kaffeine running but don't know where to put the softcam to get it to open anything up.

Seems like a pretty good distro actually

Anyone know what the differences are between the Full Edition & The community edition (other than the Windowing System) ?

i was chatting on the mint forum,s lastnight talking about the skystar2 and kaffeine with the plugins we need.
i managed to get the latest kaffeine sc pluggin keys and data to this lad who is going to compile us a kaffeine version with the softcam already installed and working.

good thing he is only in bristol he is a bit of a nix guru and he now wants a ss2 and a 80cmdish setup to play with..he likes the thought of free tv

so soon i hope this pluggin issue will be sorted
