Basically i want to install my own system to get fta channels and such as im sick of sky. I have sky digital and i recieve freeview fine and i think im in a good coverage area. Im techy when it comes to pcs and console but not satellites im afraid.
Basically i saw this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...7750%26fvi%3D1 i however have a couple of questions. these channels does this include sky digital on fta. like sky sports etc. Also is it fairly easy to install. my main worry is lining up the satellite. I was thinking if it would be easier just to pay someone to install it, what do you think, any help would be appreciated, thanks |

that all sounds ridiculously overpriced for what you're getting infact heres an almost identical kit(minus how to patch CD and null modem cable and with an 80cm dish rather than a 90)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Full-Satellite...QQcmdZViewItem with better quality gear for £130 you wont get sky digital channels for free however with a technomate you can patch it and open up various other providers from across Europe lining up sats is quite easy provided your patient so i wouldn't recommend paying somebody unless you really need it

Hi Alyt, welcome to the forum.
I assume that you want to keep the sky satellite fta and free to view channels. Will you be keeping the existing sky box and dish for those? Are you intending to install a separate dish for other satellites?

Hiya m8, welcome to Sathelp
![]() You're dish can go wherever you can get the best line of sight for the satellite's you want. In fact, do you know which satellites you'd like to pick up? What sort of stuff are you after? Sport? Movies? Adult?. Depending on what you are after, you may want to consider going motorised (extra £60 or so) or multi LNB. Either way allows you to view channels from more than one satellite ![]() Installing a satellite system isn't as daunting as it sounds, and if you do decide to do it yourself you'll get all the help you need right here ![]() The old Sky cable should be fine to use with a new dish 8) Premier League footie is currently available free on the Technomate via Premier on 19E if you patch it, or via DigitAlb on 16E with a subscription card (around £150). The Premier channels could go at any minute though . A few others are available but these are the main two.Let us know what you're after and we'll try to give you some advice ![]() Kev Oh, and I see Mr Defruit's beat me to it again : ![]()

A motorised system is basically a dish with a small motor. It allows you (via the receiver) to remotely move the dish to point at just about any satellite allowing you to see thousands of channels.
