Have set up aldi system with supplied dish onto astra 19e .
On programmes such as Das erste i am getting 64-67 percent signal strenght,at lot of stations are that strenght, but some other stations break up and some say no signal. Do i need to fine tune again or is it dish is not 80 cm. Do signal strenghts vary with different programmes or should i be able to receive all free to air. |

I haven't used the Aldi system but I think you definitely need to fine tune. If any channels on the Astra or Hotbird sats are breaking up then the signal can be improved. Is your system motorised or a fixed dish?

Its a small dish about same size as sky dish. Sold to be portable. I have strenghtened
mountings to use it in fixed location. I thought I could use this dish maybe replace latter with 80cm fixed dish. I did not use a signal strength meter I took a tv outside to set up. I must admit when i found signal and got picture on tv i did not try any fine adjustment of dish. Also I did try to find hotbird but could not. On an earlier post someone said the tilt of the dish is different is this correct as i found 28 & 19 astra with same dish tilt. |

As the satellites are stationed on an arc, although you managed to get both using the same dish elevation, to get optimum signal strength you need to alter their respective elevation angles. Roughly speaking for most people in the UK Thor 1w is highest in the sky and due south. As you go east and west from this point the sats get lower until you reach about 60 degrees east or west, at which point they are not visible to your dish, as they are below the horizon.
So If you bare this in mind - looking from behind your dish:- 19.2E is left a bit and down a bit from 13E. 28.2E is left a bit and down a bit from 19.2E. Only make small slow adjustments or you will miss them completely. |

You will also need to twist the LNB in it's holder - clockwise when stood in front of the dish, and by up to 15 degrees in the UK.

Spot on boss
![]() As Stick says the further east you go the more you need to scew your Lnb clockwise. At 1W your Lnb would be vertical. Have a scew to further improve your signal after you have optimised your horizontal and vertical position. (Pardon my French). |
