Default 28.2 and 28.5

Hello. I am new to the forum and wish to say Hello to everyone.
I also live in Poland and am trying to get some SKY channels here. I am able to get the ones on Astra 28,2 (not all, but some which I am happy with ) and also some on Eurobird (28,5) The problem is with the ones on 28.5 , these channels sometimes freeze indicating the signal is not strong enough. Is it possible to install some kind of a dual converter or a bigger or higher gain converter which would be able to catch signals from both satellites . My dish is 1.2metres. What is the other solution to be able to catch both satellites on 28,2 and 28,5 . Thanks.

Theres no magical boosters or gain converters.

The only answeres is to have a bigger dish, or make sure the one you currently have is fully optimised for weak signals, by tweaking the dish alignment, installing a better lnb, adjusting the lnb twist (skew)

At the end of the day though the best answer is more metal collecting the signal in the first place.

I agree.

You might find that optimising the alignment of your dish for transponders on 28.5E will improve things a little, and this may be the difference between clean reception and breakup, but the two satellites are so close together that they are effectively co-located.

A bigger dish is the answer, unless your setup is either damaged or otherwise defective. A receiver with a super-sensitive tuner may well help slightly too.

Thanks for the reply. I have a 120cm dish and it is located on the 7th storey terrace of a apartment building with an absolutely unblocked view. What other size of the dish should I try ? I doubt the admin's of the building will allow me to put a very large dish though. This was installed almost 6 years ago and not upgraded since then. Maybe there are better/stronger converters available now ?

I don't know what you mean by 'better/stronger converters' :? Converting from what to what?

Do you mean a signal booster? That will not help you - it's designed to compensate for long cable runs, which I guess from your description isn't your situation.

Default Sorry

It was my mistake , by converters I was meaning LNB's. And yes there is a long cable running between the dish and the receiver as it is on the 7th floor and I live on the ground floor. But so far as far as 28.2 was concerned there were no problems at all.

I see, so maybe a signal booster may help you :?

And yes, an LNB upgrade could possibly squeeze a little more signal, but these things are all negligible when compared to an increase in dish size.

If you really can't go bigger and you have some money to spend, then run some new WF125 coax with new (larger) F connectors, add an Invacom quad LNB, align your dish until you are sure you certain you can't do any better, and then get a good fringe reception receiver like the Panasonic TU-DSB30. I doubt a booster will improve anything beyond this, but you could try it if you are desperate.

The slightly older Technomate 7-series receivers are also pretty sensitive I've heard.

Just keep an eye on Flysat or similar. It'll all pop up there sooner or later.
