hello there
![]() first of all thank you very much for a really good board with loads of info and helpfull people. i only found this forum a couple of days ago, and have been reading like a madman since. i have found a few helpfull posts on my subject, but none that really clarified my problem. I am a danish guy that have moved to newcastle upon tyne (55.00 / 1.60), and i love danish football. most of the games is broadcasted on TV3+ 11.977 V and TV2 sport (den) 11.823 V both on Sirius 3. the footprint of Sirius 3 indicate that i would need something bigger than 1.2m. _http://www.lyngsat-maps.com/maps/sirius3.html I have been thinking of getting the 1.5m gibertini with a feedhorn, but will that be enough to ensure a 24/7 stable signal?? cause it is right on en edge of the official footprint. if anybody here has any experience with the 5e Nordic beam could help me out i would really appreciate it, so i dont go and waste my money on kit that i can not use. I have emailed hisat and they recommended 1.2m dish but I'm not quite sure about that. I know that i would need planning permission for a dish that size, would it be easy to get one of them or will they say no for sure?? regards to the sub. i will be getting a official card from denmark since they are encrypted in n*d*s. on the side i have a small extra question, would it be possible to receive the danish channels on 1w with a monoblock lnb on the same gibertini dish? kind regards danish football lover Soren |

have you spoken to satellite superstore as they should have some info as i think they are in newcastle and they sell big dishes so could recommend what size you might need
i can receive some channels on 5east nordic beam with 90cm triax in west yorkshire so you might be ok with an andrews 1.2m with matched feedhorn and c120 lnb just tired some channel on nordic beam like kanal 10 or sirus promo channel they are coming in but low signal 45% on receiver but give satellite superstore a call/email as they will help i'm sure _http://www.satellitesuperstore.com/cat.htm

well i've got on 5east, quite a few but the signal isn't strong because of the dish size and the transponder list is a bit out of date

Hi fryman. :welc1:
I have a TM1500 CI and an 88cm dish. I am getting a signal of 64% on 11977V, and 66% on 11823 in Yorkshire. This is adequate on this receiver, so I would think a 1.2m should be ok, and will give you the extra signal strength for poor weather conditions. Yorks. ![]() |

:welc4: to the forum mate
![]() I would go for a 1.5m just to be on the safe side. It would probably guarantee that most weather conditions wouldn't affect the signal too much You would probably get away with a 1.2m dish but inclement weather could result in loss of signal ![]() I would get advice from Satellite Superstore but i wouldn't buy anything from them unless you don't mind paying a little over the odds as their prices are a little comical ![]() With regards to the multiblock lnb i'm not sure how well that would work as i don't think a normal type lnb would illuminate a 1.5m dish correctly. I'm guessing you would need a C120 lnb and a feedhorn on a 1.5m dish I don't suppose there would be any harm in slinging a normal lnb on the side though to get 1w if you could get it to fit close to the feedhorn :? I've no experience with C120 lnbs so i'm not 100% sure how big they are ![]() If you can get the lnb close enough you will probably get away with it to be honest as the official footprint for Thor 3 is nearer to Newcastle than Sirius 3s :? You would definately get Sirius 2s & Thor 2s nordic beam. I can get Canal+ Sport & movies and the NRK & DR channels in the Midlands on a 90cm dish with no problems ![]() ![]() Nano

![]() I'm not much help on this because I can't get Sirius 3 or Thor 3 from down here on my 88cm dish, but can suggest that: 1) You get as much advice from as many places as possible up front (as you indeed seem to be.) 2) Don't trust what either Hisat or Satellite Superstore say, as both have given bum advice in the past. Rather, you should aggregate their advice into a bigger profile. 3) The monobloc idea probably isn't to be recommended on a setup specifically for out-of-footprint reception - you'll probably compromise both satellites. If the loss of £20 isn't a problem and you want to test it out then fine - it would certainly be nice, but it's not really what it was designed for. You could always resell it. 4) My gut feel on dish size would be 1.5m. A good 1.2m is barely enough down here on the south coast. 5) C120 and proper feed horn is probably the way to go. As for planning permission, yes, officially you need it. I believe this includes ground-mounted antennae too, but I've never seen any details of cases where this has been tested legally. Depending on how 'public' your proposed installation location is and what your neighbours are like you could just go for it and see what happens. The worst that can happen is that someone will complain and the council will tell you to take it down. Also, if someone does complain, it might then make any planning application more difficult. Not because you were told to take it down, but because someone who can see it has complained already, and will obviously object during the consultation period. I'm sure I read somewhere that the whole planning permission regulation system was due to be dramatically overhauled and simplified very soon, so that may either work for or against you.

i just suggested sat superstore as they was in that area.
also check websites like _http://en.kingofsat.net/ as i'm sure they have a section with a map and dish sizes for each sat over europe, well they used to as for the planning permisson you can get around it with the dish being fixed to a pallet and held down with sand bags or something as it is non fixed into the ground the council cant do you for it i'm sure rd100 had his 1.8m on a pallet and got around the council issue

Wasn't being funny. They should have good local knowledge. I guess it depends on who you get to speak to there.
