Having finally set up a motorised system (Technomate 1500CI+ super, 1m dish, Cental Scotland) I now wish to access sports channels (especially tennis) which are currently unavailable to me. Presumably the easiest way to do this would be by purchasing a card (ART???, any others?). Can someone give me a brief description of how I may be able to use cams and patches, I'm a complete novice in this area.
Thanks.

Hi BothyBhoy,
If I were you I would go the patching route for your receiver initially. You may be able to get a good selection without a subscription, in fact I think you will find quite a bit broadcast FTA (as long as you can live with foreign commentary). Of course if you want guaranteed viewing then an official card is the only option. Not sure which would be best package for you though. :? Look at nanochickin's useful post on how to patch your box, and go from there. http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...ic,4700.0.html Yorks ![]() |

Thanks Yorks. Just been to my local Maplins looking for a 9pinF to 9pinF Null Modem Cable. They want £25. I think I'll go for the one on e-bay at 99p + £2.99 postage. Why the big difference?

Maplin are crooks
![]() Nah, that's not fair. Some of their stuff is good value, but buyer beware! Never seen a null-modem cable for £25 in my life... ART have good all-round sports coverage, but don't pay OTT. They should be cheap now - £60 a year? Loads of FTA, especially German - Eurosport, DSF etc. Also Planeta (Russian) is good on Hotbird. ABsat (French, with patch) covers loads of stuff too, especially motorsport.

I think FoxTurk and/or SLO-TV2 show a bit too? Had to watch some while I was waiting for the footy to come on the other day :

BGonaSTICK,
"Never seen a null-modem c@ble for £25 in my life..." Looking through Maplins catalogue last night it's actually priced at £9.99 but they had £25 price on it in the shop.

Tell Maplin staff it's incorrectly priced and they'll charge you the lower price.
Always found Maplin to be good in that respect. ![]()

Too late. I already ordered the one on e-bay. Had it been correctly priced in the first place though I would have bought it yesterday.
